When you play non-dedicated, you are playing as both the server and the client. If you host a game with a huge radius, it would tank your computer -- they'd need to do a lot of work to make that happen, if it's even possible.The servers are very unstable. We're now trying to enjoy ASA on non-dedicated private servers, but the tethering distance is making it unplayable, maxed out at 180 meters. We need fix, either an option to remove or to be able to increase the tether distance...Multiplayer launched from within the game itself is still limited by the tether distance. I think you can have even more than 2 player, but it is limited by the tether. Otherwise you need to run a dedicated server and then there's no limitations. Neither of these seem to be the answer you were hoping for I'm afraid.

It's so frustrating when you're in battle with a friend and they get killed at when they re-spawn their body instantly gets dragged to you killing them over and over again. Please fix this ASAP

At least in survival evolved you were able to change the tether length, only ever being teleported when host went into a cave. But now even if you change it, the distance will always be 180 meters.
Yes there is a tether. NO the settings to make the tether range go further are NOT working. YES you can host a dedicated server from your PC for FREE. Make sure you have your Steam library set to show tools and games.
