For me Kotor 1 is easily the superior game. It had the classic Star Wars feel (while still telling a new story in a completely different era), the characters were awesome and the twist at the end is one of the best in video game history. The writing for the whole thing is just beautiful and intense, the dialogue on the Ebon Hawk afterward is better than anything I ever would have expected from Kotor at the beginning of the game. I also think it's cool how the game almost lulls you into a false sense of security by having no enormous surprises until the Leviathan shows up.
