Both Magus and Summoner have Monk/Champion spellcasting progression. They become experts at 9th level, and masters at 17th level. Magus still uses the 4 spell slot system. Martial Caster feat was removed and replaced with a 7th level class feature that grants Magus specific spells based on their Hybrid Study.
Tbh int isn't super important for a magus so it's fine to go something like 16 str/18 dex. The strength will give your unarmed strikes more damage. For lots of weak mooks, spellstrike may not be as effective as being able to take multiple swings at multiple enemies (especially if you have cool feats from an archetype) or use AoE (cantrips or slots or staff).
