They remain warm and rarely heat to an intolerable temperature even when feeding my 4 Ohm 85dB speakers at high levels for an extended period of time. The performance of my GS-X Mini is more to my preference of a fluid/natural presentation or more colored some would say. Again, to my preference it is simply a much more engaging and convincing sound.

I don't want to schiit on schiit but Asgard 3 blows this amp out of the water in everyway. And no balanced won't help, I fed it with Bifrost 2 and used balanced out. It's very much a chip sounding amp. It's nicely built has a sick pot and all the balanced connections are great. Kara is better. All of my comments regarding Freya S or Kara's sound are limited to the 1x mode. Kara takes the transparency of Freya S, and adds a more beguiling tonal balance. Kara has more weight in the midrange, sounding more robust than Freya S. Massed/solo strings and pianos sound rich and sweet through Kara.
