After a gallon or so goes in the air stops rushing out of the filler tube which is what triggering the pump to shut off , due to the vapors. Yes the simple fix is adjusting the filler tube to a different angle. But I've found that by simply filing it slow for the first gallon. Yeah but the pump turns off because it detects backpressure (your tank is full and it can sense that the pressure is building up so it shuts off). If you have no venting in your tank when filling, then it's going to keep shutting the pump off.

This is not a pump problem it has happen to my 1500 dodge ram as well. If i new how to attach a picture I would lol. But a guy told me on my thread with simaler problem that it could be the filler hose is out of alinment with the marked tab at the filler neck or the tank.
Tried having the pump handle vertical, horizontal, and every 5 degree position in between. Your problem is most likely the rollover valve in the tank, it's meant to keep gas from pouring out if the vehicle flips over and makes it difficult to siphon fuel out. Every manufacturer has issues with this, not exclusive to Ram.
