The fan switch is in the radiator, so it does not get hot enough to kick on when the thermostat is stuck shut. Given the age, I would suggest checking the coolant circulation after a new thermostat is installed.The primary clutch and the crank shaft is mounts on - make sure there is NO LUBRICANT AT ALL. If there is lubricant, then that could be the issue. If the primary were to go on to far, the cooling fins on the back of the clutch could hit the metal plate behind it. The needle seat has a small screen and it was plugged only letting a small amout of fuel into the bowl. Most of the jets were clear but I still used music wire and air to clear any blockages.

Rode it the first time for about 10 minutes and overheat light came on. Checked coolant resevoir and it was full, however the radiator took quite a bit of water.
