New User. Oct 16, 2016. #1. I am finishing replacing the parts after rebuilding my hydraulics on an 8N. I installed a new cylinder and NAA piston. I also replaced all 4 valve assemblies in the pump. I put the top cover in place and torqued it down. My 8N (1950) has had some hydraulic problems since I bought it a few years ago – it had the quadrant cover (outside the lever that adjusts the tool position) removed so the lever could be moved beyond the quadrant stop to raise the lift arms.

The 9N-2N lift is much simpler with only one external adjustment. The most common problems with the 8N linkage are wear and bent linkage. Look at the 8N link that goes down to the valve. If you will get one of my 8N lift adjusting jig fixtures you can fix that lift. It is impossible to adjust the 8N lift with the instructions in most manuals. That adjustment would work on a lift that was prestine but it ain't!
