Recently the local JD dealership called and informed us that the tractor is in need of a new transmission (been at the dealer for nearly 6 months).We have 2 of each. The 6300 uses less fuel doing the same job but the 2955 with its lohger wheelbase has a better feel in the field. Both the 6300,s have new radiators due to the stupid location of the battery in front to the radiator. Both tractors have gel cell batteries now as we only replace with gel cell types.

If the pto is very consistent in the amount of time it runs before shutting off most likely it is the speed sensor or wiring to the sensor could be unhooked or damaged. If the tractor does not detect shaft speed, it shuts it off to prevent burning up the clutch. It thinks the clutch is slipping.
