It turned out to be a dog sentinel, stuck in the air. I was able to shoot it down and finished the mission. I also shot one that was clipped in the pillar in 4/6 or 5/6. After killing the walker and it didn't finish the 6th wave, I wandered far enough away from the pillar until it gave me a message in the corner to return.
