Then you will equip the bucket of water and fill the washtub up. Once the washtub is filled up with water you will have the option to " Take a bath ". Villagers not working. I have 1 hunter, 1 gatherer and 1 lumberjack. They have been steadily producing what I assigned them. Currently, my lumberjack and gatherer are standing around. I made sure the resource storage and food storage weren't over capacity. My lumberjack has a side quest for "animal overcrowding". I have declined it twice.

The straight answer is no. You can't assign a worker to go and gather straw (or sticks or herbs). But as has been said, you can produce it in the barn from certain grain crops.
