I usually clean it again after a month of sitting. If I have been carrying it, I will put a patch with some light oil down the barrel at least a few times a week. Cleaning so often may be overkill, but I grew up shooting collector 1911s and match targets--and a dad that believed all primers were corrosive.
Bozz48. You should be able to shoot many thousands of rounds without completely disassembling the pistol. Field stripping, cleaning, and lubing will keep it top condition for a very long time. I'd recommend the Max because itis barely thicker than the original and still incredibly easy to conceal especially in the pocket while being easier to grip/shoot and much higher capacity.
