Re: Shilen Match VS Select Match barrels. One is straighter that the other and cleans up easier but they both seem to shoot well. My select match cleans up without a trace of copper while the other tends to have a small amout of copper in it. You will have to be a benchrest shooter to notice the difference in accuracy!

I researched, then ordered a Shilen 17 HMR barrel for my 77/22 mag a week ago, directly from Shilen. I just went with the blued version for $80 or so cheaper than stainless. My 22 has the simple "V-block" that holds the barrel on, very simple. The 1st thing I noticed is my factory 22 mag barrel fit in the receiver with a tad of play.Neither of those were nearly as accurate/consistent as the .920" Shilen. Re: Lilja vs. Shilen. Follow this link to the 2009 national championship Equipment list. There's alot more Shilens than Lilja's in the top 20. I have both and they both shoot great. Keep in mind BR cycles through equipment and next year most likely there will be a different barrel on top. The BR guys are always looking for an edge.
