I have done 2-up, short road trips with my wife. The bike handles very well and has enough power when riding solo. The mileage is great.The last would be to check the voltage on the regulator. Connect DC meter to Black/Yellow and White wires on the regulator connector. Idle should be 12v. At 6 - 8k rpm you should have 14-15volts. Section 16-78 covers inspection, removal, and installation of a new sensor. You should test both to make sure it's not a problem with the gauge and not the float.

vn800 classic carb problem. for some reason my bike keeps dumping fuel out the side of my carb after it's been shut off witch inturn runs down the coolant pipe going to the crankcase and seeping fuel into the case. I have taken the carb apart at least 4 times and checked everything over. Float is sitting right where it should be.I have a 2008 Vulcan 500 ltd. As far as preformance wise everything is still stock. The bike physically goes into neutral but will not start unless the stand is up and clutch in even when in nuetral.
