Alpha Kappa Alpha’s presence on the University of Oklahoma dates back to 1967. Prior to Kappa Psi’s establishment, any women interested in joining the sorority had to go through the Beta Beta chapter. During this time, Beta Beta was a multi-campus chapter under the umbrella of our graduate chapter, Beta Sigma Omega, in Oklahoma City.
Attending school with the handicap of implied, if not open, opposition, our Founders sought support from each other. There was a need for a social center, a place of conference, a tie which should unite, a circle of friends who could sympathize with one another in their perplexities. They formed Alpha Phi in 1872 at Syracuse University.Meet the Arkansas Sorority Chapters; Joining a sorority will be a rewarding experience that will last a lifetime.
