This website gives the statistics of waitlist admits. I'm on the same boat. Over 6000 kids on the waitlist last year and they admitted 159. They do this to make their yield look much higher - no one tracks the number of kids that say “ No thanks, you are too expensive, I am going elsewhere for less $$”.

Thought my 170 made them a safety when I applied, but I guess in this cycle a waitlist is to be expected. I heard BU sent out 2 different waitlist letters, I got one that said I was placed on a "short, unranked" for the waitlist, but apparently they sent a different letter to some people that says you are just on the waitlist.
With only one person getting off the waitlist in 2018-2019 decision cycle, a guaranteed transfer is definitely a more promising path to BU. Congratulations!! 🎉 Reply reply
Getting waitlisted by Caltech isn't bad? Just got waitlisted by Caltech and honestly am not that disappointed. Checked out their CDS last year and apparently they only waitlist 1% of students.
