Ruger security 9 slide stuck.

I recently bought a Ruger Security 9 and I having issues with misfires. I have put around 600 rounds through it so far and have only shot maybe three mags where I didn't experience a misfire. There have been times where in 30 rounds there were 10 misfires. Problems with Max 9. Today was the second time I was able to take my new Max 9 out to the range. The first time I did, the slide wasn't able to return to battery via slingshoting it. Also, just after firing a box of range rounds, the plastic takedown gate completely broke off causing the slide to get stuck back after almost every shot.

This being my first pistol I didn't know, I'd recently taken down a Glock and you had to pull that trigger. The same thing happened to me with a Stoeger shotgun, but neither owners manual mentions this. After removing the firing pin and cleaning the channel. simply wipe the firing lightly with a cloth with a drop or two of oil on it.
