Oct 20, 2023 · The cog railway takes you up from Manitou Springs—a cute mountain tourist town— up to Pike’s Peak. Aspens had lovely yellow foliage. Views of mountainside, stream, and surroundings. Train cars are new and comfortable and you can reserve seats. Top is a lookout station (you can also drive a car up). The cog railway ride to the top is fantastic in itself as the gradients are steep and the views stunning. Once at the top there is a good choice of walks for all ability levels - or you can just sit and admire the view. There are the usual eating places and even a shop at the top! This is the second time I've ridden the Cog Railway, the first time was 30+ years ago. The trains and railway have been updated and are much more modern now.
